El príncipe Harry y Meghan Markle suelen estar en el centro de la polémica, principalmente por lo diferentes que han sido sus formas de actuar en relación al príncipe William y Kate Middleton.
Los últimos son más bien tradicionales, probablemente porque el mayor de los hijos de Carlos sabe que en unos años deberá oficiar como Rey de Inglaterra. Harry, en tanto, es más relajado y ha intentado mantener una vida un poco menos convencional, dentro de lo que se puede.

Su esposa, la duquesa de Sussex, ha sido sindicada como la principal responsable de este cambio, pues se sabe que es dueña de una personalidad avasalladora tal como la de Diana de Gales, pero sin la misma popularidad. Al parecer, al pueblo inglés aún no le gusta la figura de la afroamericana. Y con tanta polémica (cierta o no) es difícil que las aguas se calmen pronto.
No obstante, Markle parece estar tomándose las cosas con calma y continúa trabajando firme junto a su marido y preocupada de su hijo Archie, con quien hace poco iniciaron una nueva gira por el continente africano.
En este contexto, si el año pasado Meghan fue criticada por usar ropa y accesorios excesivamente costosos para su gira por Oceanía, este año dejó el ‘glamour’ de lado y se ha mostrado bastante más sencilla.
En estos cuatro días que ha pasado en Ciudad del Cabo, la duquesa ha cautivado por su cercanía, empatía y sencillez. Tanto así que incluso se deshizo (por un tiempo) de su lujoso anillo de compromiso, el mismo que tenía tres diamantes, perteneciendo uno de ellos a la fallecida Lady Di.
Según el portal español especializado Vanitatis, Meghan sustituyó este anillo por uno bastante más discreto con una turquesa y un pequeño diamante de Jennifer Meyer cuyo valor bordea los 228 euros (180 mil pesos chilenos).
De acuerdo al medio, la exactriz decidió quitárselo para dar una imagen más “austera” en un país que atraviesa por tantos problemas económicos.
Respecto al vestuario, la duquesa ha estrenado cerca de siete looks, cuatro de ellos repetidos, al igual que sus sandalias. El vestido azul camisero de Veronica Beard; el diseño de Martin Grant largo y con rayas verticales que llevó en la recepción del embajador sudafricano; el enterito negro de Everlane que lució con las madres de la fundación Mothers2Mothers; y el look de chaqueta de mezclilla y pitillos negro también está formado con ropa que tenía antes de su boda con Harry.

target="_blank" rel="noopener">Day two of #SussexRoyalTour is underway, and The Duke and Duchess have joined young South Africans and @WavesForChange to focus on mental health and take part in ‘surf therapy’. • Hundreds of young people from Cape Town’s townships meet every week at Monwabisi beach to surf, but also share stories with mentors and talk through the daily challenges they face. Their Royal Highnesses were able to hear how the sessions are building trust, confidence, and belonging, and they also got to join in as children took part in ‘power hand’, which teaches them how to keep calm down reflect on strengths. While on the beach The Duke and Duchess met @TheLunchBoxFund – which was one of the charities they nominated to benefit from donations following the birth of their son, Archie. Almost 30,000 meals are provided by the charity every day across South Africa, including for three @WavesForChange projects. Entre las piezas nuevas se encuentran un vestido con estampado en blanco y negro de Mayamiko (60 mil pesos chilenos); un vestido largo verde de Staud (236 mil pesos chilenos); y un vestido blanco y azul de Club Monaco (209 mil pesos). En total y con las joyas, el valor de lo que ha llevado puesto no supera el millón 200 mil pesos chilenos, una cifra bastante alejada de los siete millones 300 mil pesos, en promedio, que sumaba a diario en su gira por Oceanía el año pasado.

Si bien quedan días de gira, lo cierto es que Meghan hizo una jugada inteligente en medio de tantas críticas que ha recibido por lo que hace y no hace. Al parecer ha decidido, en esta ocasión, brillar más por su trabajo que por lo que usa.
Ahora, cabe señalar que el príncipe Harry se encuentra en Botsuana, y ella se quedó en Johannesburgo. Por un tema de seguridad para Archie, el príncipe cumplirá compromisos en solitario tanto en Botsuana como en Angola y Malawi.
