Actualmente tiene 93 años, y pese a que su salud se ha visto comprometida en algunas ocasiones, lo cierto es que la monarca goza de un impecable estado físico y parece tener la energía suficiente para continuar liderando, pero al parecer sus intenciones serían distintas.

De acuerdo al diario británico Express, la Reina estaría pensando eventualmente en abandonar el trono, conforme a cómo avance la salud de su marido, el duque Felipe de Edimburgo.
Así lo comentó el experto real Duncan Larcombe, al citado medio: “Mucha gente piensa que tal vez ella pueda retirarse una vez que fallezca su marido, el duque de Edimburgo. Eso es ciertamente una posibilidad”.
“Ella siempre ha estado con él, a su lado y ahora está retirado. Sí, vemos a la otra familia de la realeza compensándola y cuidándola. Ella está en sus noventa ahora, sí, goza de buena salud, pero creo que ya tiene derecho a la jubilación“, comentó el experto.

Cabe recordar que Felipe tiene 98 años y se retiró de sus deberes reales en 2017. Ahora pasa gran parte de su tiempo en el pueblo de Sandringham en Norfolk, donde la monarquía tiene una casa de campo. Son más de 22 mil eventos reales los que el duque completó en sus 70 años de servicio.

Desde su retiro, se le ha visto en pocas ceremonias, de hecho, no estuvo presente en el evento ‘Tropping the color’, con motivo del cumpleaños oficial de la monarca, lo que tuvo a una solitaria Isabel en su carruaje.
La biógrafa real Angela Levin, comentó al espacio Royal Box de Yahoo que es su sentido de compromiso el que tiene a la Reina tan lúcida. “Creo que ella hizo este compromiso de servir a su país hasta la muerte (…) Se ve sorprendentemente sana, muy articulada, muy enérgica, se mantiene de pie durante una hora.
Levin, agregó: “Sentí un poco de pena por ella cuando estaba sola en su asiento porque estaba completamente sola. Es bastante comprensible que el duque Felipe no haya asistido por sus 98 años, pero estaba bastante sola y pensé, ‘esta es la soledad del monarca’“.
